My Period is Late. I’m Panicking. What Now?

Hi PlanBCebu,

I’m 20 years old and I think I might be in trouble. My period is late, about 5 days now, and I’m starting to panic. I’ve never been this late before. My cycle is usually regular, so this feels really off.

My boyfriend and I had sex last month. We used protection, but now I’m overthinking everything. What if the condom broke and I didn’t notice? What if I’m pregnant? What if my life is about to change completely?

I haven’t told anyone. I’m scared, I’m stressed, and I don’t know what to do. Please, help me figure this out.

💙 Our Team's Response:

Hi Worried and Waiting,

We know this kind of anxiety... the kind that makes every second feel heavier. You’re not alone, and what you’re feeling is completely valid.

The first thing we want you to know is: a late period doesn’t automatically mean you’re pregnant. Stress, changes in sleep, weight, illness, or even emotional pressure can throw off your cycle. But because you had sex, protected or not, it’s wise to rule out pregnancy. Here’s what you can do:

  • Take a pregnancy test if you’re more than 5 days late. For best accuracy, use your first morning urine.

  • If the test is negative but your period still doesn’t come after another week, test again.

  • If it’s positive, don’t panic. There are options—and we’ll walk with you through every one.

We offer discreet delivery of pregnancy test kits, emergency contraception, and other options you may need, all confidential, no judgment.

You did the right thing by reaching out. You are not helpless. And no matter what happens next, we’re here to support you with compassion, clarity, and care. 💙
